Land Use

Representation in land use regulation matters is an essential aspect of the Environmental Practice Group. The firm has represented applicants in major commercial, resort and residential developments within state and federal jurisdictions. At the local level, the firm has appeared before a large number of municipalities throughout Maine on behalf of developers, public utilities, land owners and concerned neighbors in matters including subdivision and site plan approval, landfill siting applications, utility transmission lines and distribution facilities, contract zone agreements, wetland ordinances, variances, conditional use approval and shoreland zoning disputes. The firm has also been active in the representation of abutters and intervenor groups in municipal proceedings and the preparation and administration of land trusts, protective covenants and conservation agreements.
